From our pastor

It is my privilege to welcome you to the web site of New Salem Baptist Church of Iuka, MS. Our church is located near Pickwick Lake in the corner of Northeast Mississippi. In our fellowship you will find a diverse group of believers from all ages, but all sharing the same love for the Lord Jesus Christ. It is my hope that you will take the time to see what God is doing in this fellowship and in our wonderful community.

We believe that church is more than just a place to meet on Sunday but rather it is a way of life. Here at NSBC we strive to Reach the lost with the saving Gospel of Jesus Christ. We want to prepare the saints to live their faith in their community, and in everything we do our entire purpose is to Magnify the Lord. From this purpose we strive to be the Church that God has called us to be. Here at NSBC we put great emphasis on missions. We really believe it is up to each one to reach his Jerusalem, Judea, and Samaria, and to the end of the earth. It begins in the home and stretches to the world. Every person is expected to serve and be faithful in their witness.

Here at NSBC we are simply an ever-growing puzzle where God is bringing the pieces together for His purpose and glory. If you are moving to our area, please be our guest for worship and Small Group Bible Study. We have a place for you. If you do not have a church home and are searching for a place where you can be a part of the

growing family, I want to invite you to come and join in this exciting time at NSBC. We cherish the opportunity to meet new people and make new friends. If you are planning a vacation to the Pickwick area, I also want to invite you to join us for worship. You will be our guest, not a visitor!

It is a blessing to pastor the great people of New Salem Baptist Church! So come be a part! Hope to see you soon!

What we believe

God – We believe that there is one God who exists in three persons; the Father, the Son and the Holy Spirit.

Jesus – We believe that Jesus is the Son of God, was born of a virgin, was wholly God and wholly man, lived a sinless life, died in our place as a sacrifice for the sins of mankind, was buried, arose bodily from the grave and ascended into heaven.

Christ’s Return – We believe that Jesus Christ will literally return to earth.

Holy Spirit – We believe that God the Holy Spirit is active in convincing unbelievers of their need for salvation and is the Comforter and Guide who lives in every believer.

Bible – We believe that the Bible is the Word of God without any error, the sole authority for life and faith.

Man – We believe that man is a special creation of God, made in His image, but that through the sin of the first

man, Adam, mankind fell so that all men are sinners and need salvation.

Assurance – We believe that every person who is truly saved is eternally secure in the Lord Jesus Christ.

Eternity – We believe that those persons who die in their sins without Christ spend eternity in hell and those persons who die with their sins forgiven through Christ spend eternity in heaven.

Baptism – We believe that water baptism is an act of obedience to the command of Christ and is by immersion after salvation.

Church – We believe that the church is a local body of baptized believers with the Lord Jesus Christ as the head.

Prayer – We believe that each believer has direct access to God through the Lord Jesus Christ.

Government – We believe in the separation of church and state, but not in the separation of God and government. Christians are salt and light in society.

For more detailed information on our beliefs, please read The Baptist Faith and Message of the Southern Baptist Convention.
